I just wonder how the Xians apply this within a marriage. After all, it did not say it is acceptable amongst married couples. It just said lust is a sin, period.
I don't think I would want to be married to a man who didn't lust after me from time to time.

Under the Law a cunning legalist could steal someone's wife and marry her without actually committing adultery. You just wooed her, reduced her affections for her husband until her husband got fed up and divorced her and then you could marry her. Jesus called this adultery of the heart.
By the way you mentioned not bringing up the Apostle Paul's teaching. We do not pick and choose. All scripture was given by inspiration to man.
"Judas Iscariot" went out and hanged himself.
"Go thou and do likewise".
All or none.

Okay we'll stick with the original question. She would have to be married for it to be adultery, otherwise you would be correct in assuming fornicaion was the law broken. Christians do not make everything a sin, it was written that way in the bible. We just do our best to follow it.

Yes it is a sin. Everything is a sin because we live in a sinful world. Theres more people in this earth that live in sin then as christians. cause they dont want to bother the guilt feeling when they do wrong and thats what the devils all about making u feel good when u do evil and dont have to worry about punishment. But when the world ends he will turn on u and burn u for the rest of your life and laugh cause u were so stupid to fall in his trap.

Hello Sho-Nuff.. :)
You are close to what the Bible says..it says:
Matthew 5
Jesus' Attitude toward Adultery
27 ¶ Ye have heard that it was said by them of old time, Thou shalt not commit adultery: Ex. 20.14 · Deut. 5.18
28 but I say unto you, That whosoever looketh on a woman to lust after her hath committed adultery with her already in his heart.
==============================================
We do not make everything a sin.. :(
==============================================
Matthew 19
3 ¶ The Pharisees also came unto him, tempting him, and saying unto him, Is it lawful for a man to put away his wife for every cause?
4 And he answered and said unto them, Have ye not read, that he which made them at the beginning made them male and female,
5 and said, For this cause shall a man leave father and mother,
and shall cleave to his wife: and they twain shall be one flesh.
6 Wherefore they are no more twain, but one flesh. What therefore God hath joined together, let not man put asunder.
==============================================
I would much rather be with someone (who was not with alot of other people), before me..
==============================================
In Jesus Most Precious Name..
With Love..In Christ.. :)

Lust is making the woman a sexual object instead of a person to be loved. It is possible for spouses to feel only lust for eachother instead of love, that is a SIN>

Do you think Christians made all the rules, I'm as guilty of this as anyone but I guess when you look at someone and think of secs first in Jesus' eyes it is probably adulterating because it can grow from there. Again please watch how you word this things as we have to deal with the flesh too.

You can liken it to a bird landing on your head. No big deal. Wave it away. If you have lustful thought and move on again No big deal.
If you let the bird stay on your head, poop on your head, and build a nest on your head; you have a problem. Same with the lustful thought.

There is but one "sin", desire, this leads to a sense of duality, I am separate from God and I have a will of my own. This one sin is the root of all sin. Desire, through Karma, actions in thought, word, and deed are the creators of your life circumstances and your destiny. Accept all desire as Gods will, Through unconditional love, perform all actions in thought, word and deed as service to God and all that he created.
