OK, I know nothing about satnavs but I do know my way arounnd my local area and my satnav would have me driving 40miles in the wrong direction for a 2 mile trip, going for ferries that haven't run for 20 years, driving up pedestrian precincts and the wrong way on the one way!

I was bought a Ramar Navistar 5020 Satnav as a present but I'm not impressed. I certainly would feel safe using it somewhere I wasn't familiar with.

All the info is on an SD card (Powered by smart2go)

My questions are:-

Can I simply change the SD card to new, more reliable info from another supplier?

If yes, who do you suggest is the best?
Free would be excellent but I don't mind paying for it as long as it's not extortinate.

Do I buy the card with info on it (supplier or ebay?) or do I download the info and put it on the SD card myself (how?)

Or should I just chuck the thing in the bin?!

Help!

Bin it and buy a Tom Tom with free upgrades. Better yet get a map and check Teletext page 160 regularly. Also AA and RAC sites before you go anywhere. And one for free, avoid the M1 Southbound between J15 and J8 at ANY time until the roadworks are sorted (2008).
