I asked whether or not Xians/Christians get upset when they are called Xians. The majority do NOT. This is proven here and I asked it a long time ago.

So why are the Xians insulting me for calling them Xians here?

Those Xians who made fun of me for calling you Xians really need to educate yourselves...check the best answer in the first link. It will tell you all you need to know about the word Xian, and prove once again that atheists know more about your religion than you do! lol

Those who subscribe to the logic that the word Christian should be used instead of Xian, because Christian was used in the bible...well now, do yall want to just revert back to the Hebrew edition? Cause English wasn't used in the bible!

Because most christians don't know the origin of the use of the 'x' is from the greek, 'x' is the greek letter chi which is the first letter of christos, christ. therefore, they look at is as an insult.

This may seem a little severe of an example but it’s the only one I could think of. Do you remember Malcolm X of the 1960’s civil rights era? Well, he changed his last name to X because he no longer wanted to go by his “slave masters” name which was the name given to his ancestors during slavery. It was a deliberate act to not only remove his slave name but to also reject any affiliation with a race of people who had afflicted his ancestors. In this case, given his motives, I think it was a good thing. But in the case of taking Christ out of Christian it is like attempting to remove the very foundation and reason for the Christian faith. Xian SHOULD offend Christians because no matter how much people try to take Christ out of everything no one will EVER be given the Ok to remove Christ from the Christian name and faith. In my opinion, a person who would abbreviate the Christian name by removing Christ is not only a deliberate attempt to insult Christians but it also lends proof positive to the fact that people who do that are attempting to remove the very thing they fear from their own vocabulary which, makes it more their problem and not that of the Christian. So why insult Christians if the problem is yours (people who abbreviate Christian)? Xian to me is offensive and just as wrong if Christians were to call all those who are not Christians Xtheists, Xuddist’s, Xhova Witness, Xnogstics, Xindu’s, Xican’s, Xuslim’s, etc. simply because they didn’t want to say or write the entire proper name. It just isn’t right!! Not for Christians…not for ANYONE!!!

I always concider the source. If the person writing Xian means no harm or is in a hurry, I'm not offended. If they are doing it because they hate Christianity, then I'm offended. You, my dear, are a hater, thus your usage offends me.
After all, if I shortened Atheists to Ath. (sounds like a bad word or a donkey), you would find it insulting in a question that was aimed at berating Atheists, wouldn't you. After all, you Ath.s don't like it when we come on here and mock you. NO, you Ath.s don't. But you come on and mock us Christians and then get upset if we fight back.
Maybe I will write Ath. all the time now. See how long you can laugh about. After all, all I'm doing is shortening it.

I don't get offended by it, though it could be considered insulting (like calling someone a nick name that the person did not give you permission to call them by). But personally, when I see Xmas and Xians, even though I know what it is, I can't help but pronounce it in my mind as Ex-mas and Zians. So, it just looks kinda weird.

i think of it is extra often than not because of the fact in cutting-side circumstances we are painfully responsive to the reality that Christmas has grow to be commercialized to the factor of dangerously threatening it is real meaning. as quickly as we make a factor of including the word "Christ", we are attempting to hold directly to what little reminders we've left as to the real meaning of this holiday. i do no longer think of it is too lots to ask.... to comprehend the real spirit of Christmas by skill of no longer crossing out the main severe portion of the word.

You know, atheism is a religion too. You have to believe there is no God. And according to dictionary.com religion is, "a set of beliefs concerning the cause, nature, and purpose of the universe" that's just the first definition. So to say that atheists know more about our religion than we do is kinda just plain silly when you don't even know that you have a religion. I am assuming that you don't though, so sorry if you don't.

I'm the Buddhist who called you out on it. You need to educate yourself on arrogance and rude behavior. You certainly not showing off any real "superiority" by such actions by any stretch, which, by default, doesn't exactly make peace. I'm not impressed.

I like the part where you said "atheists know more about your religion than you do"
I often find myself having to educate someone on there own religion. Most of them haven't even read there own bible. I hate to say it, but it's true.
