Are you sure you want to be just friends? What if he has another girlfriend? Do you think she will be comfortable with him having a friendship with his ex. Be truthful to yourself. You might still want him back. If you go back to him on a friendship basis, make sure you do not send mixed signals as you might get hurt if he does not feel the same about you. You can always call him to ask him how he is doing. See how he responds. If he sounds even interested into having a conversation with you. Usually men when they break up they do not want to initiate a friendly relationship with their ex unless they still have residual feelings for her. Anyway, he does not hurt to call if you want his friendship just make sure this is what you really want and that he will be receptive to it. I believe you could call him as soon as possible and let him know how you feel.

You don't keep in contact with people you break off a relationship with. What do you want from him? Sounds like you broke his heart and are seeking to do more damage by telling him you want to "just be friends". Leave the poor guy alone. Its over, let it go.

Wait until you bump on to him and then be friendly.Just keep in mind that it will be up to him also and he may not want this or be ready for a long time.

never contact him again that will just hurt him why did you break up with him if you want to be only friends. you obviously dont care about him anymore so let him be it will be way to hard to even speak to you.
