like a dog or something, do you just throw it out or do you have to call someone to get it?

its actually illegal to bury an animal or dispose of it in the trash in a lot of municipalities, especially urban areas..

standrad parctice is to have the animal cremated.. this can be done privately if you wish (at extra cost) and the ashes provided in an urn.

You have to find a good friend (male) that has the guts to do what you can't. You don't have to buy a casket (although I do when I lose a dog) because Wal-Mart sells containers that seem like caskets with tops that seal. Wrap the pet up with it's favorite toy and blanket or buy some velvet etc. etc. and then my dear, bury the pet!!! That's the LEAST you can do. Sounds like you weren't very attached to it. Oh, and ordering a little plastic(?) or better stone with it's name and dates on it makes that spot very special and it seems like they are still with you in your spirit. My husband handles the ones "put down" when a Vet is involved or if they pass on through the night etc. he does the deed. It's so nice to have a man around the house!!

When I am alone someday, if I am, I will have to take my dogs to a pet cemetary where they take care of all that.

I would tell you what they do with dogs you just leave with the Vet, but I don't want to hear about it myself!!
Make your next pet one you can love and respect, please.

It depends on the laws in your local Government and the animal. In most cities it is against the law to bury an animal in your yard. Call a veterinarian's office and ask (first), and then if that doesn't answer your question, call the local animal control department in your area and they should be able to answer your question. They may pick it up or ask you to take it there, and for a small charge (in some cases no charge at all, depending on where you live) cremate it with the other animals they have had to put to sleep. In my case, my beloved cat of 19 years was cremated by the veterinarian, but that is very costly if you don't have a spare hundred or so dollars.

You put it in a plastic bag and bury it on the back yard, or you can throw it to the trash, or you can invite some people over and throw the dog or pet a small funeral. But I don't think that any funeral service company would like to pick up nor make a funeral to a dead dog!!

I guess it all depends on the size of the pet and where you live..
in an apartment, you need the proper authorities to do away with the dog
you own your own house, you can dig a nice deep hole and bury it, that's what my dad has done like for ever

good luck

When my baby died (that was her name baby) @ the Vet ER they let me take her body home. I knew that I wanted to cremate but didn't know where. When I found out I took her body in to get cremated. There are plenty of options available: cremation, private cremation to where you keep the ashes (is what I did), pet cemetery, bury the pet in your backyard, or you can throw away the body (which is kind of sad especially if you are emotionally attatched to your pet).

How about trowing you in the waste basket freak? Either bury him on the back yard or take him to a vet so that pet can get cremated!

If it was my dog, I would find a nice spot in the backyard and bury the poor baby. I'm sorry for your loss.

When my beloved ragdoll kitty was literally "killed" by the new vet in our vet's office, we were horribly devastated, but because Snowflake was always seeking out a warm place to sleep, usually my lap, we decided to have her cremated and put in a small urn for us to keep. We didn't want her "buried" in a cold, strange place, but will have her little urn placed on my lap (her favorite place), when I am buried. So, she will always be "resting" on my lap, in her favorite "warm" place.
