it depends what you eat, not how many calories. I could eat 3000 calories a day of healthy nutritious food and I would be better off than if I was eating 1500 calories of packaged, saturated fat-filled food.....

a pound of fat is 3500 calories. you must burn this much to lose 1 pound of fat. at the same time, your body is ALWAYS burning calories, this is based on your basal metabolic rate. your metabolism at rest during the day. mine for example is about 1400 calories. but if I eat 3000 calories, I have a surplus of 1600 calories which are not burned.

do cardio, eat well, and avoid high saturated fat and high cholesterol/sodium foods, good luck!

1200 calories, by the way, is low for a growing teen, which you may be, so please eat more than that!

It really depends on how active are and your much you weigh now. If you've been doing nothing up until now, then yea you'll loose a lot. Don't eat any less than 1200 calories though. If you want a lifestyle site that will help answer things like this, search for sparkpeople.

I have lost more than 30 lbs in a month, but did it the wrong way. You should lose close to 5 lbs/week depending on your exercise. 1200 cals. isn't much, if you seriously work out, you may lose more.

It would depend on you age, weight and height. 1200 is considered the minimum calorie intake for a women, but many warn against going that low.

Healthily, you should only lose 2 pounds a week. You can lose an additional 3-5 pounds by drinking lots of water and shedding water weight!

Wow, your avatar's name belies your true nature.

Your body is a biological machine, and food is your fuel. Exercise makes your machine burn more fuel when you're NOT working, but without fuel it won't run.

Next you'll be asking why your car died on the freeway when you forgot to put gas in it!

*SIGH* How's this: you will lose exactly 248.6 lbs. Happy now?

depends on how much you currently weigh and what types of food you are eating. Calories are not as important as what you eat.
