The gospel of mat.1,verse16 ! the apostle writes down the descendants from adam to david and finally ends with Joseph . But Joseph wasn't the father of Christ right? So what the purpose of writing down the family tree of joseph , he was just the husband of virgin Mary. Maybe apostle try to mislead as ? How the prophecy is fullfilled then?
Is there any proof that virgin mary was from the family tree of David?

Azor the father of Zadok. Zadok became the father of Achim, Achim the father of Eliud,
15
Eliud the father of Eleazar. Eleazar became the father of Matthan, Matthan the father of Jacob,
16
Jacob the father of Joseph, the husband of Mary. Of her was born Jesus who is called the Messiah.

It's part of Matthew's lame attempt to prove that Jesus was the promised Jewish Messiah. The Messiah must be a direct patrilineal descendent of King David, which Matthew claims Joseph is. However, since, according to Matthew, Joseph is not Jesus' natural father, Joseph's lineage is of no importance and Jesus' patrilineal lineage is non-existent and thus NOT the messiah.

Joseph is the Patron Saint of carpenters and stone masons and road builders. Tradesmen from these groups pressured the Roman Emperor Constantine to force the bishops to include this passage about Joseph in the new and improved Council of Trent / Nicene Council versions of the Bible, because they worship Joseph.
It's true that is does beg the question about the Virgin Birth of Jesus, but that's because Christians have twisted the Bible to be obsessed with only Jesus -- Jesus is personally sick of this, and if He had His way, his pappy Joe (that's what Jesus called Saint Joseph, only in Aramaic) would get his own chapter or two.
Jesus is not jealous nor big-headed -- He's actually VERY COOL. He likes to share the limelight. He did say, after all, Thou must become greater; I must needs become lesser. Cool, very sorted and balanced dude, that Son of Mary & Pappy Joe.
Joseph is actually the incarnation of a more powerful pagan God, who fell into disrepute in in Europe around 170 A.D.
If you buy a statue of Joseph and bury it in a flower pot, you will sell your house quickly at a profit, or you will never get beetles, which ever comes first.
Both Mary and Joseph, and ALL Jewish people, for that matter, are descended from King David -- that guy couldn't keep his zipper up, well I mean his loin cloth tucked, and he sired a lot of beautiful kosher babies. Plus, Israel was small, in-grown and incestuous, like every other little country in the world.
All Romans are descended from Julius Caesar, or at least cousins. All Brits are related to Elton John, etc. Call it: Six Genetic Degrees of Separation . . . Oy vay!

He needed the credentials. He also needed the right to sit on the throne of King David to be fulfilled in the future, but because of a curse on the bloodline of King David, something to the effect of, "No one born of thy bloodline shall rule again." Scholars wondered how the Messiah would reconcile both prophecies.
The Lord Jesus received the two guarantees of right to the throne of David: the blood line through his mother directly, and the title through his adopting father, Joseph. With his death and resurrection these two rights became locked for ever in his Person and cannot be passed on to, or henceforth claimed by, any other man.

Because it shows Jesus' lineage. It fulfills prophecy. Even though Joseph wasn't Jesus' biological father, he was Jesus' earthly father so his lineage was important. One is Mary's geneology and the other is Joseph's. Be sure to look at the one found in Luke 3:21ff. You will see that both Mary's and Joseph's geneology goes through the Line of David. So either way you have the fulfillment of prophecy.
