Saddam was not religious, else he was a poser; that is why he and Osama were not friends; that is why he and the fundlementalist Iran state went to war; that is why he had no trouble gassing religious factions in his country; that is partly why he admired Stalin; that is why there WERE NO AL QUEDA TIES

Saddam, like most world leaders, used religion to mobilize the masses. His government was actually quite secular until he realized the power of religion in controlling people. I doubt he was personally religious.

He fought his way up from poverty and had to be a hard tough realist so I doubt if the luxury of believing in nonsense was open to him as it is for our current creepy leaders who were born w. silver spoons in their mouths and have v. little contact w. our reality.
