I Just went to the doctor last week for a regular medical check up. The doctor said im healthy. The only thing he said is that im overweight by 10 to 15 pounds. He said if i work on that i should be fine. What can i do to lose this weight and be in the healthy weight zone, im 14 years old, 5'5 height, and weigh 145 pounds. I want to lose 10-15 pound and weigh less. i know im still growing, but a want a healthy, safe diet so that i can grow up not being overweight. Any tips on Nutrition and Fitness ETC, THANKS. And at what age is it safe to lift weight. Thanks...

You'll do best if you both cut your calorie intake and increase your calories burned.
On the intake, eat smaller portions of healthier foods. Try to minimize the sweets (candy bars, chips, soft drinks) because they don't offer much nutrition but have lots of calories. Eat three smaller meals a day and add in several (2-4) healthy snacks (apples, carrots, oatmeal) per day. By eating smaller portions more frequently, you can increase your metabolism (burn more calories!)
For exercise, a good program would include cardio (running, aerobics, walking, basketball, tennis, etc...) and weights. You're old enough to lift weights, but try to find someone that knows what they're doing (a PE teacher, coach, trainer). If you don't lift weights correctly, you can hurt yourself. I'm sure your school's PE teacher can help you create a good exercise plan.
Good luck. And remember, keep motivated! If you keep it up, you should lose the weight and feel a lot better too.

well there are loads of diet but i don't suggest that, cause i have tried all these diets and once i leave these diets, i gain my weight back. i suggest jus watch what you eat, cut down on sweets and most importantly your apitite. ofcpourse stop the junk food start having home cooked meal more often, cut down on carb. i am not saying don't have carbs atall as carbs are very important for your body. if you eat 3 times a day try cutting your meal to twice, and do eat your breakfast. try having green tea with lemon, it burns down fat, lost 2 inches from my stomach in one month without dieting by just having green tea with lemon.
try having food under 1000 calories a day.
if you still wanna work on your figure more start working out nothing like working out. just one hour walk as a start would be great.

Well, i lift weights and am 13, so as long as you dont over do it, your fine. i would say first track how many calories you eat a day and cut that amound to two thirds of that and construct an exercise plan on the areas you need most work on (abs, thighs, arms, etc.). Next, search sp,e diest and fitness magazines and books and check for excercises and meal plans for your needs. Thats what I did. Good luck!
