I used to tip-toe around people and their feelings, as not to insult or hurt anyone, but over time I learned to say what I mean, and mean what I say, and say exactly what is on my mind, and let me tell you...it sure feels a heck of a lot better!!! I have so much less anxiety since I just say what I want to say....

Are you the impulsive type? Perhaps you should take a deep breath, then exhale and then say your peace.
Your tone could set people off. My husband is sometimes very brusk and short when he talks to me. Usually I let it roll down by back. Sometimes, I just look up at him and say "That was a mean thing to say." He is usually surprised at this because I rarely say stuff like that.
If someone feels insulted, they are going to fire back. Be ready for what comes out of your mouth. Words sting and words hurt. Sometimes being frank and blunt is hurtful.
When this happens again, ask your "friends" or to whomever the comments were directed to tell you how they felt when you made your comments. They may be able to make some good suggestions about how to communicate.

It is, but I say what I can in the nicest way, if people choose to be rude about it, that's on them. I like to debate at times, because I can handle it properly unlike a lot of people. Some people are just not the arguing type and like to throw blows, whether it's punches, or verbal exchanges, lol but we can't help our intelligence and need to state what we feel and which is often at times right. I'm a Libra, what do they expect. Don't get me wrong, if I'm wrong, I'll shut it, but if I'm right, let the court begin!

I guess it's totally up to you. I don't find it frustrating in trying to say the right words to a variety of people. If you don't take the time to do this, you might find that people will dislike you. If you don't care, than hell with everyone else - so what if they get defensive....they just won't like you.

I have the same problem, don't mean to offend but some one usually is. Some times I just don't know what to say at all. And if I don't say anything they think I'm being unfriendly. If you find an answer let me know.

I guess you'd just better not talk about certain topics with certain people. And you can always preface your comments with, "I'm really trying to figure something out, and I'd like to talk to you about it, but I'm afraid I might offend you. Could we work together on this issue giving each other benefit of the doubt?"

Perhaps its not what you say,its HOW you say it..I do however know what you're saying..Some people are just ready to start an argument over something that they know nothing about and before they even ask you to clarify your statement....
Just be you and dont worry about it..If they dont like it then oh well..

If people "always get defensive and rude" it's probably you.
