Long long time ago even before science is a subject to talk about. People learn new concept through analogy in their own experiences. We have parables as one example. Today as we are becoming more acquainted with science it is easier to explain now that Satan is a metaphor of the opposite nature of immaterial. Nature always comes in opposite pairs( positive and negative, male and female, hot and cold, yin and yang, etc). If there is heaven( an immaterial abode) then there's the opposite pair hell which is the physical dimension(earth). So metaphorically speaking, Satan rules the earth and the description of hell aptly describes earth.

Claudia's biblical view and explanation supported my view about satan and hell.

Satan was not created as Satan, which means an adversary or opposer. I believe that he was a glorious angel of God, called a cherub in Scripture, until selfish ambition and pride led him to rebel against God. This is described primarily in 2 passages; one is Isaiah 14:12-15, which is where the name Lucifer originates, (from the Latin word translated in English versions as "day star", "star of the morning", etc., meaning basically "Light bearer").
The other main passage is Ezekiel 28:11-19.
For further consideration read Job, chapter 1; Genesis chapter 3, John's Gospel, chapter 8:42-44, Revelation 12:7-12 and 20:7-10

Satan is a spirit child of God. He rebelled against the Father. He was cast out of God's presence, cursed to never receive a body or attain godhood. I wouldn't say God made Satan in the sense that he needed someone evil. Satan and his followers that were cast out (which was 1/3 of all of Gods spirit children)you, I, Christ, and everyone that has ever lived are spirit children of our Heavenly Father. He wanted us to have the chance to become like him, but he also knew he would lose some children along the way. Satan proposed a plan to be the 'savior' but it would have taken away free agency, that is why his plan was rejected.
This may sound very vast...but as LDS we believe there are many many worlds that were created, not just our earth. I have heard before that this earth is the only one wicked enough to have needed a Savior. But also, at the same time, this earth has some of the most valiant of God's children...
Whether that is actually true or not, I don't know, there are so many mysteries of God we just have no idea and cannot comprehend them at this time. But someday I think we will have answers to all our questions...

Well whether you think it's logical or not; here goes. Satan was an angel. Satan wanted to be more powerful than God; so God cast him out (of heaven). Satan is always running around in the world causing havoc, trying to prove to God that he can make God's people say that God doesn't exist. Satan wants people to worship him instead of God. Get it. You can read all about this in the Bible. It is well documented there.

Satan is not some character created by God. Satan was the most glorious angel ever created. His beuty was the most admired. He was created with a mind to make his own decision just like you and I are. Satan decided to rebel. His pridefullness took over and he wanted to be like God or higher than God, but God threw him out of Heaven and he now is ruler over the earth until Jesus Christ returns.

Satan by definition would be anti-Christ. Satan was created as an angel, in God's service. But pride came in from free choice, this caused his fall.

okay stick with me here

before we can dive into the illogical reason why Satan is here we have to get a few things down first.

1. god is Omniscient. that means he knows all. past, present and future. basically? hes psychic. (which is evil according to Christians)

2. Hes Omnipotent. that means hes all powerful. he can do as he wishes when he wishes and where he wishes.

were going to ignore Omnipresent because we don't really need it.

okay here goes.

god creates Satan. god is omniscient, that means he knows all. that means that god knew Satan would turn evil, god knew Satan would take angels with him and god knew that he would tempt people and those people would eventually go to hell.

gos is also omnipotent, which means god can destroy Satan with a snap of his finger (Ala Q from Star Trek TNG). yet god does nothing

so there are a few answers we can come up with for why Satan is still around.

1. god wants Satan to stay. but that means that god is allowing people to go to hell. hardly a thing an all loving god would do

2. god didn't know Satan would turn evil. then why is he called "omniscient by the Christians?

3. god cannot do anything about Satan. then hes not omnipotent. kinda makes you wonder why Christians would even pray to him then.

if god knew about Satan, why did he create him in the first place. wouldn't it have been way simpler to not have created him? wouldn't we then be technically still in Eden? no satan, no snake in the garden, no temptation, right?

so then why did god create satan?

ask the christians, watch them tense up.

Satan is the hebrew word for destroyer. In the NT, Jesus said the bad seed is sown by the devil, and the devils definition is slanderer.

Also it is written the the devil is a liar, false accuser, slanderer, thief & murderer since the beginning.

You know a tree by its fruit. If you love to listen to a gossip, then you love to eat the fruit of it. If you love to listen to the good report of someone, then you love to eat the fruit of it.

In the beginning of Satan, he wasn't a destroyer. He was a beautiful dragon. But he deceived the woman to destroy us (out of jealousy). Because of his deception, mankind rebelled/ sinned & died spiritually then physically. The wages of sin is death.

And he was a beautiful cheribim with special talents. The problem was his pride and usurping Gods identy for self, and then iniquity was found in him. And corruption that brought harm to Gods creation.
