I am trying to eat healthier and watch what I am eating, but I find that a little after lunch (between about 2 and 3) I crave something sweet or junkie and it's usally becuase I am feeling really tired. I would really like to know what some good snacks are to help give me a lift until dinner, and if anyone has any other ways to help break the afternoon blahs (or the 3o'clock wall as the campbells soups commercials used to say).

Thanks so much in advance!

You're right: junk food and sugar give you just a temporary boost, followed by an even bigger slump. I asked a nutritionist at the Y, and she said the best snacks combine *two* food groups, so they're like a mini-meal.

So think veg or grain plus protein or cheese. Whole-grain crackers with a bean dip, a peanut butter sandwich, cheese and celery. Two food groups will see you through to dinner best.

This isn't particularly healthy, but nothing picks me up mid-afternoon better than Pepsi. Coke doesn't even do it -- it has to be Pepsi.
