I expect that, because the military doesn't have the constituency of those who have come to rely on the huge "entitlements" payments that we spend every year (welfare, social security, medicare, medicaid, etc.), the government will dump their promises to the veterans long before they ever decide to come to grips with the Social Security program's inherent faults.
That's why I started saving a long time ago, so I don't have to rely on Social Security or my retirement. (28 years in the Army)

Jimmy Carter and Bill Clinton couldn't do it; what makes you think the newly elected Democrats can do it?
The Economy is fine; ever been outside the US. If you have you would see it.
We have 5% unemployment with over 12 million illegal workers. While in Europe; double-digit unemployment and 30 hour work weeks are the norm.
Our homeless have it better than 80% of the worlds population.
