you just keep on going instead of am and pm. so you just go threw all 24 hours instead of 12 with am pm.

Military time is easy:

There are 24 hours in a day. Most of us look at time as going from midnight to noon (AM), which is twelve hours, and then PM going from noon to midnight (12 hours).

So, starting at one second after midnight, you have military time of 0000.01. That counts as 0000.01, 0000.02, 0000,03 . . . . 0000.59 as the first minute.

At one minute after midnight, the military time is 0001.00, and the seconds start counting again. 2 minutes past midnight is 0002, then 0003, 0004 . . . . until you reach the first full hour after midnight.

At one hour after midnight, you have 0100. And the process continues to 2AM (0200), 3AM (0300) . . . . until noon (1200).

Now, in the common mode, we start counting over again, but add PM to distinguish it as after noon, rather than before noon.

The military, however, just keeps counting up the hours, so that 12 PM is 1300, 2PM is 1400, 3PM is 1500 . . . . on up to midnight (2400), and then a new day starts and the count resets.

So, if you hear a military time that is 1200 (twelve hundred) or less, think that same number in the AM. If you hear a time larger than 1200, then subtract 1200, and think PM.

1545, therefore, is 1545 - 1200 = 03:45 PM. Simple!

are you talking about doin time in jail in the military? joining the military? or are you talking about military time on a clock?

I will guess clock .. wish people would be more specific when they ask questions.

IF thats what your asking its pretty simple.
a normal day goes upt to 12 ( noon ) then starts over at 1 again and goes to 12 midnight.
Instead of startin over at 1 again you continue with 13 ,14 etc... up till 24.
each hour you count up till 24 hours.. not hard.

Now in addition to that actual military time breaks down the hour into 100 units instead of 60 minutes. I don tknow if you really need to get that specific or not.

what ever time it is in the pm hours add twelve.
i.e. 4:00 pm (4 + 12 = 16)
now add a hundred on the end.
4:00 pm = 1600 hours

in the am add add a zero in front of the single digit time
8:00 am = 0800 hours

10:00 am = 1000 hours

Pretty much for anything after 12:59 pm, you add 12 to it. From 12:01am to 9:59 am you add a zero.

12 midnight=2400
12:01 am=0001
1am=0100
9:59 am=0959
10 am=1000
12:00 noon=1200
1:00 pm=1300
5 pm=1700
8pm=2000

I hope you get the idea.

Once you get past 12 noon just add 12 to the time. For example1 PM is 1300. Do that until you get to midnight than after that it goes to 0100.

Just say it is 4pm, just add 12 + 4= 16, say its 6pm, just add 12 + 6= 18.
