Just recently when I take a deep breath the left side of my upper chest gets a sharp pain and it also aches as well. Anyone know why?

Sounds like pleuritic pain. Causes range from chest infection to strained muscle to fractured rib(s) to.to.to.

Depends on the history: recent strenuous activity, respiratory infection, trauma, etc. Get checked out for a chest infection if it gets any worse or changes in nature.

Hope this helps.
