Be careful with chiropractors - I know there are a lot of good ones, but there are also some not so good ones. Go to the store and get ThermaCare heat wraps. They come in different sizes and you can get a smaller sized one. They stick on and the heat lasts for at least 8 hours. They really feel good.

Use heat and some anti-inflamatory meds, like ibuprofen to help with the pain and any inflamation.

Not all doctors are good, some may not even know how to treat the problem. I think it will be beneficial for you to try some alternate treatments., for example take a day of pampering which involves massage. A pain or a health problem doesn't always need medication to fix it. It is much safer to treat different problems with natural plants, for example herbs are known to have the healing power to cure many illnesses. Your neck pain can also be caused by stress, try camomile tea and few minutes of listening to music that relaxes you; this helps! Good luck!

Ok keep the orthapedic cushion, but 1-3 hrs before you go to bed take a hot wash cloth and put it directly where it hurts.

Then when that cools off try to put ice on it, keep going from hot to cold. I had the same problem and that really helped me.

lots of good answers but agree with arthur, expand a little more and try indian head massage(inc shoulders & upper back) or on site massage....visiting doc may be a good idea as he will at least tell u what it isn't so leaving u with a clearer idea on what to focus on...in the meantime review your working enviroment as this often the main culprit

have you ever tried getting an aromatherapy massage,I don't mean going to a sleazy massage parlour or anything, but going to your local beauty parlour or gym or sports centre,it really does loosen up your neck muscles, and the aromatherapy oils relax you,why not give it a try ??

Maybe you should try a different doctor. Sometimes one doc will miss something that another picks up on right away. Good luck!

Other than band aid treatments, go get trigger point shots. They are great. Hope this helped.

I will bet a hundred pounds this is caused by stress. You must learn to unwind, what is stressing you and deal with it.
