Malaria pills has its side-effects. On the other hand, malaria is considered pandemic in Thailand. Get some insect sprays that contains DEET.

Generally if you are staying in major cities and not venturing into the countryside you probably don't need it, but if you plan on going out into nature you might need it.

it depends on how long you plan to stay here &
where u planned to go.
if you're here just for a visit / holiday.. there's no need to get this malaria medicine.
the case is very secluded.. 1 case per 1 million ppl..
& this case only involve rural areas.
no need to worry bout it mate.. just come here & enjoy your holiday

as many answers above, city is ok, but jungle trip would be risky.
anyway i think it better to just take the pill. (you are talking about the tropical country. )
