Hi. I know just what it is and who you see about it. You may well have an issue with TMJ, the tempo-mandibular joint (i.e. jaw joint). Having the jaw joint lock open sounds like the joint itself is not working properly.

Do you grind your teeth at night? (Ask your dentist if there are traces.) Do you hear a click as you open and close and bear down, such as chewing? Do you ever feel pain radiating up your face towards your ear?

I was struck by TMJ in college while eating a Subway sandwich. I actually popped the jaw out (ouch) and then back in (ouch again), which caused cheek muscles to swell and severe ear pain (swelling still). I still have issues when I chew full pieces of chewing gum. My dentist says my teeth show signs of grinding. Sometimes, I get nasty face headaches from the jaw.

That said, I have elected to do nothing about it. Of course, I have not had a resugence of the issue from college. Yes, it is an issue with the joint. Yes, it can be exacerbated by stress (such as the teeth grinding). In most folks, though, TMJ is rather harmless. See your doctor or your dentist and ask if you should be concerned.

By the way, if it were tetanus, you would be dead by now -- so stop worrying about that one!

It additionally had different symptoms nonetheless, and grew to become into (and nevertheless is) an extremely horrid disease. in case you had tetanus to such an quantity you're able to on no account be scripting this now! you would be in well being center.

Your jaw can lock and not be caused by tetanus. Some people are prone to it. It happened to my dad and he had to go to emergency and they thought he had tetanus, but he didn't.
