You will likely have a hard time at that rate since you don't have a lot of experience. WHen you say "shots" does that mean tangible photos or the number the bride and groom choose from and pay extra for the actual photos?
All day coverage is priceless so that alone will get you a lot of business but then again to say four hour coverage for $900 could let you do 2 weddings in one day.
SInce you are just starting out be flexible, experience is the main thing to gain right now.

I live in Chicago, which is a very expensive area for weddings.
$900 is a lot for what you are offering. First, you are relatively inexperienced. Second, you only provide 300-360 shots for all-day coverage. Basically, if I am paying $900 for two people to take pictures, then they better take more than 300 pictures.
I would suggest providing all-day coverage with no limit to how many pictures you are taking. It would be great if you would give them proofs of everything, that they can keep. I paid $650 for two photographers in Chicago who did just this.
Once you do that for a while, you will have earned enough experience that you can limit the shots that your provide and/or raise your prices.

if you are good: $900 is not bad, considering they get to keep the negatives. Do you also offer an album? Most photographers also include an album with 20-40 of the best shots in it as a keepsake. Of course, since you are offering the negatives, you may be able to do without that - but it is something to consider.

considering your not as experienced, it sounds a little high-maybe come down to 750 or 800, and have your add on's start at 900. I really need more details-to they get to own the pics? if so then no thats not bad at all. also, is that including a package or any credit for pics or is that just your fee to do the wedding then they have to buy pics on top of that? if so-then thats bad high.

I think that is a fair price. I'm getting Married in PA in 2008 and am in the process of looking for photographers, what area in PA are you located?

It depends on the quality of your work. You don't want to cheapen yourselves, yet you need to drum up business somehow by getting yourselves out there. I hired my photographer based on price, but only after I saw the quality of his work.

Maybe you should check out professional photographers and see what they charge and for what... Then undercut them... Especially if you are good...
