I would like to make my invitations a little more creative versus getting addresses printed. Has anyone ever learned calligraphy or some other form of creative handwriting that would be beneficial? Suggestions?

I have learned calligraphy and I was self-taught. There are books that you can learn from. I have a suggestion though, if you have alot of invitations it would be better to have them printed. Calligraphy is tedious and takes alot of time so I'd say if you have 75 or less do them by hand otherwise it will become too tiresome.

Traditional calligraphy is next to impossible to learn if you are left handed but there are calligraphy pins you can buy that are markers with the slanted calligraphy tips. I use these whenever I want to write and make if look fancy or professional. You can pick them up in the art section of any good craft store. My favorite is hobby lobby. I crochet so that store is my favorite haunt.

Calligraphy is easy to learn...but even better when you make it up as you go. Buy a set of pens ($20 or less from a craft store) and play around with designs on blank paper. Then, when you've had enough time to practice, just go to town.

The art teacher at the high school I graduated from teaches it to all of her students. Check with some of the schools around your area they may be able to teach you some quick tricks or point you to some high school students who might like the chance to earn a little cash. It would be cheaper than paying a pro.

if you like that, i think you can print from WORD a faint color for the font calligraphy and follow it by your hand afterward with a nice pen :)

You can pay someone to address your envelopes with calligraphy. Bridal shops can refer you.

I use calligraphic pens... Some are felt tip and others are real ink and metal nibs...

It is very useful to learn... Teaches you patience and careful planning... :D
