The doctor is gonna give you some medicine and on the bottle it says take every four to six hours. I suggest you take it every three hours because the last thing you want is for that pain medicine to wear off. You wont overdose but that is some pain you truly do not want to feel trust me. Stick to soft foods until your back gums heal. chinese soup, KFC mashed potatoes and ice cream without nuts where my main things i would eat. Dont drink anything acidic like orange juice. Itll aggrivate the gums. GOOD LUCK!

Talk to people who have had it done. Hearing other people's expereinces can help to make you less afraid. I had mine taken out about 4 years ago and it really wasnt a big deal. The first few days were a little crummy and I could only eat soup, but other than that I was fine. And, your doctor should give you some perscription pain medicine (things like codine and vicodin) and they make everything all better.

Don't freak out! I had all 4 of mine taken out at the same time also. They give you some great drugs so you don't feel anything and you aren't nervous. They also give you meds for afterwards to help with the pain. Use that and some ice packs for swelling and in a day or two you will be fine. Good luck.

Don't worry!! I had 4 wisdom teeth removed and they were all deeply impacted so I was really scared, but everything went really smoothly and it wasn't anywhere near as bad as I thought it would be. The surgery only takes about half an hour and if they're putting you out for it, you fall asleep instantly and it's all over when you wake up. Good luck!

First of slow down, now take a deep breath, let it out and relax.

If you are really anxious about this, talk to the dentist first, there are several things that he can do to help you not be afriad.

I'm a wimp when it comes to getting dental work done. Just can't handle the sound of a drill. Anyway I asked to be "knocked out" when I got all 4 of mine out at the same time.

I had all four of mine split in half and taken out on the same day. They were really large and facing the wrong direction. Try some relaxation breathing and if you are still panicking the dentist can prescribe some Valium to help your nerves. It is better than you freaking out in the chair. Also asked to be put under.

I had FIVE wisdom teeth, yes, one extra!
I put it off as long as possible and eventually they began causing me TREMENDOUS pain!

The best advice I ever got was this:

******GO TO AN ORAL SURGEON!******

Do not go to a regular dentist for this. My sister and my brother got theirs taken out at a reg dentist office and they were not in good shape afterwards (I will refrain from elaborating). However, a friend of my parents insisted we check with oral surgeons. It didn't cost any more (We had insurance) and I never felt one bit of pain. They put me completely out. I don't even remember the needle for the IV. I slept all day at home and that night woke up feeling fine as could be.
Seriously, please go to an Oral Surgeon.
Do it for you and for me!!!

don't be. i had mine taken out. your not gonna feel a thing because of the novacaine. your whoole mouth is gonna feel soo numb which is sooo funny its a feeling out of this world. but yeah, afterwards i suggest taking some pain medication cuz when the novaciane wears out you will start feeling pain but the best part is that you only get to eat soft cold foods after. so go buy some popsicles!!!

just get it over with, but i feel bad for you because it really it sucks for a couple of days, you have to spit blood constantly and you'll be sore.
the actual procedure isn't bad at all, but when the novacaine wears off you'll be sore... good luck~
