To repair photos, you can fix red eye or eliminate acne, lighten or brighten pictures.
Of course you can do strange stuff like put things in pictures that are not really there

Photoshop is used for nearly every bit of advertising, graphic, imagery and even movie effects today. You can't imagine how fake and 'photoshopped' everything is. It is super powerful. I am a graphic design intern.

People use photoshop for a variety of things. Collages, websites, banners, website banners, icons, editing pictures and report covers. Greeting cards, too. Some other things they have aren't on other programs that are cheaper or same price. Their banners are mad hott. People use this program for almost everything!!!

To alter and/or enhance images, mostly photographic images. You can do anything to change color and texture to any part or the whole image, cut& paste pices of images together, smooth and blend to remove things from pictures, etc., etc. etc.
Limited only by one's imagination and expertise.

i also use it to render architectural plans, diagrams, elevations and perspectives.
