All major religions are based on what happened over thousands of years ago.

What is to say that somewhere, somebody got something wrong that somebody said and that is what we are left with today?

What's to say to say that a religion started today won't be the major religion in 2000 years?

All major religions have begun with small humble roots. Unlike all things, the bigger and more complicated they become, the more corrupt they can become. With this corruption comes misery and suffering due to invasions and forced conversions. All major religions have gone down this path, and even they claim to be pious, they are truly far away from there original beliefs. Same goes with political factions. They start with good intentions, but then become corrupt over time.
So, could there be some smaller religion nowadays that may be the true religion? In today's day and age, this would be very difficult to find. Most are in it for the money and status. Some are sincere with their practices, but only time will tell if they don't corrupt as well.

i have no problem with religions whatever they are, just that they have to go over the top, come on! it seems that everybody [nearly everybody] believes in some-kind of divine power, call it god, mother nature, Allah...what ever, but we believe. so why cant the top dogs of these religions accept that there are other creeds, other religions and other ways to worship their god.
yes the catholics murdered thousands [if not millions] of heathens, catholics and protestants are still at it, but i never would have believed that Muslims would be killing each other... eg; Sunni's and Shiites .
why in the world cant we all accept that we all worship in different ways?
the end is the same, when we die, we all want to get to that higher plane, to progress to the next level, to boldly go where millions have gone before!
i do believe that murderers never achieve that Nirvana, even when they call themselves martyrs, i don't care if the pope or ayatollah or president tells you you will. take my word for it ...you wont get to heaven, taking another persons life in the name of religion [god] or for the sake of some higher regime [like money] will never get you to that state of "higher being"
LIVE RIGHT. BE NICE. LOVE ALL. LIVE FOREVER!

Exactly. They're all based on absurd claims made thousands of years ago by some ignorant boors with some seriously embarrassing views on our universe which, sadly, still condition the way the majority of people behave today. Unbelievable, I know.

Belief creates. All religions are true to an extent (mainly that they are the only truth)
There is a hell, because Christians believe that there is a hell, but I wont go there because I know that I will be reincarnated.
Also: my belief system is much older than 2000 years. Pagans will prevail.

Yes. All religions are based on the premise that the universe can be better understood through assumption and belief than by observation and interpretation.

Superstitions, are as you know primitive beliefs.......many handed down through the ages......gods are just another superstition that has been handed down changed - interpreted, translated and followers have followed.....why do so many superstitions refer to their followers as 'flocks'? Could it be that they follow like sheep to the slaughter....believing what ever the powerful tell them to believe ...doing no critical thinking on their own.

Critical thinking is but one of the things that separate man from lower forms of life on this planet and those who follow anyone or any belief without question have given up their ability to critically think and that puts them on the same level as the lower forms of life - only they gave up the ability willingly the lower forms never developed it. Some way to live eh?

Yes, and all the minor ones, too. Religion is superstition.

BTW, Latter Day Saints (aka Mormons) only started a couple hundred years ago and it is already a major religion. It does happen.

i'm an atheist yet i don't have a topic relationship someone 'non secular'. yet being gay AND an atheist is many times a topic with human beings. i don't believe of i might want to date someone who has been steeped in Bible Belt Christianity or Islam. i'm not a troublesome human being to delight yet i can't cope with many of the "Jesus this and Jesus that". i'm a usa boy. I easily have some beverages after I easily have an afternoon off from artwork. i'm getting out contained in the swamp and shoot the breeze with loopy Patu (some previous guy who lives on a house boat, lengthy tale). i do not favor to go back abode and pay interest to about Jonah and the Whale and Jesus on a stick. i'm contained in the deep south inspite of the indisputable fact that, so many of the adult men I easily have ever dated contained in the previous are from the "non secular christianity" aka "in no way bypass to church yet placed on a bypass necklace each now and then". i can cope with that. yet do not assume me to dip my stick into loopy. i'm now unlikely to consider being in touch with a guy who shall we me f^ck him and then receives all depressed because Jesus hates homos or something. i'm OUT.
