The American Council for Headache Education (ACHE), suggests several Non-pharmacological strategies for sinus and migraine pain treatment and prevention. Among the alternative strategies listed are massage and cognitive behavioral training (also known as stress management), and accupuncture OR accupressure.
The best QUICK natural relief I have found is with Shiatsu - a form of accupuncture WITHOUT needles, and found a DVD that TEACHES you how to do this to yourself in MINUTES - anywhere, anytime. They also have streaming treatment trainings that you can watch on your PC - as in 'now' - when the Chemist's are closed! I highly recommend the following for any natural pain of sinus, headache or migraine - check out the following link for more information:
http://www.migraineandheadache.com
and read the page about Shiatsu especially.
Also - you should check to see if you have any TMJ problems and are clenching or grinding your teeth in the night And learn the natural pressure points (good training is available) Trigger points are at the bottom of the head behind the ears, in the groove where the head and neck meet!
Best wishes!

It depends how bad it is. I suffer from sinusitus and find avoiding light and sitting in a dark room help ease the pain. Lying down tends to make it worse for me though so just sitting quietly and trying not to move helps. I find heat helps so I put something warm, like a handkerchief that's been on the radiator, over my eyes and that can help temporarily. I know you said you didn't want painkillers but Mucron are fantastic, with me, they keep the pain away for up to eight hours.

And Hot flannels across the sinus area...not hot enough to burn your face! so be careful.
Also lying flat on the bed face down and hang your head over the edge. It does help the sinus drain.

Use a bowl of steaming water and cover your face and the bowl with a towel. The steam will help release pressure. If you have a aroma therapy oil such as eucalyptis that will help . Add few drops to water. Or treat youself if you can to the local steam room. Some swim pools/health clubs have them

Headache is a pain in the head, scalp or neck. Headaches can be
caused by minor problems like eyestrain, lack of coffee or more
serious reasons like head injury, brain tumors, encephalitis and
meningitis. Taking painkillers continuously can have harmful side
effects, so it is better to modify your lifestyle. More information
