Call these people regularly;
the Council Dog warden(no. in local directory)
The Police
The local dog rescue centres

Put flyers up with a photo, description and where when what time lost; place them;
-on lamp posts
-community halls
-police stations
-DOG RESCUE CENTRES RECEPTION!!
-local chip shop
-shopping centres
-put flyers through peoples doors

I am really sorry that this has happened. Its a horrible thought but if your dog is a staffi then its worth checking out if hes been nicked for fights; so check out the local dog fighting info too. But this is so rare and unlikely, esp if your dog isnt a staffi.

Also put a reward on there, then whoevers stolen it may come forward. Also its a known thing that sometimes travelling people(not all) steal them on purpose for a ransom so you may hear something really soon . It may be worth tracking the local travellers down.

I'm thinking of you, best of luck!

First, delete this question because you DO NOT want to put your email address on a public forum (it's going to be spoofed for spamming).

Next, repost this question without your email address.

Lastly, post a LOST DOG notice on http://www.dogdetective.com and look through all the found notices there as well.

Contact your local animal shelters, vetrinarian offices, pet supply stores - litter your neighborhood (not literally) with fliers.

Dogs can travel up to 50 miles a day, so local fliers aren't always helpful, but if your dog was chipped, be sure to notify the chip maker to be on alert as well.

Good luck! - DO NOT OFFER A REWARD - and do not list your address. Both would be a theives dream. Simply state in intersection where the dog was last seen and either a cell phone number or email address where you can be contacted. Leave your personal details at a minimum. If you list your address with the reward, someone may come and steal your other pets just to gain a few bucks.

One Christmas, we returned home from vacation and noticed one of our dogs was missing. One of our neighbors saw us looking and said that they had seen the animal shelter van in the neighborhood, so we went to the shelter, and there she was, happy as ever to see us!! Apparently she had gotten out of the fence and was wandering around the neighborhood, so someone called the pound to come and get her. So I would take the advice of the other person and call local shelters/adoption centers to see if he turned up there somehow. It also wouldn't hurt to check the local classifieds to see if someone found him and is advertising for the owner. Good luck!!!

Contact your local shelters, pounds, and humane societies, and file a "lost dog" report with them.

Post flyers at local grocery stores, veterinary office, animal hospitals, and schools (kids are great about finding lost dogs) that show a picture of your dog, and give a detailed description of it.

Offer a reward, if you can afford it.

put up posters and call all the animal shelters in the area, ask people too and hopefully you will find him, when you get him home have him micro chipped then should this ever happen again you will be contacted if he turns up at any animal shelters........

Good luck in finding your dog

That is so sad. Defintiely take pictures of him to the local vets. Was he microchipped? They will need to know that,

The humane socitety, shelter or pound, may have suggestion for you if they don't have him. Also, their driver's can keep an eyeout for him so speak with them as well

Good luck.
