It does mean that you are at least "sensitive" to lactose. You may not be altogether "intolerant." You may very well be fine with with cheese and yoghurt as the lactose is these products is already partly broken down. You can test it out by cutting out milk for a couple weeks. Take notice of how you feel an hour or so after after other dairy products. Do you feel bloated or gassy then? Have stomach upset or slowed digestion (takes longer to poo)? If so, it could mean that you lack the digestive enzyme "lactase" (this is really quite common) and are therefore, lactose intolerant. No worries, there are loads of milk substitutes out there. They are getting better all the time. Soy milk, rice milk, almond milk-my personal fave. Try 'em all. Good luck!

Girl, what is that smell?

Yes, you are. Either stop drinking milk or use Lactaid.

You can become lactose intolerant at any time--same as becoming allergic to any foodstuff.

Could be. Milk is not as good a source of calcium as it is made out to be, anyway; you are not so badly off without it.
