Yes.
Apostle Paul on the other hand recommended early Christians not to marry, because he though Jesus would come second time during their lifetime. And yet the whole Christianity is pretty much based on his teaching even though he apparently had no clue.

You really think every couple who gets married in a church are true believers?

Kind of odd that all those people who swear to have and to hold til death do them part get divorced a few months later - I presume you think its all part of satans plan.

I'm an atheist, and I'm married. My husbands a druid. Marriage has nothing to do with religion.

Why not? Do you think any animal that mates for life needs to have a Christian ceremony to simply make a promise?

My wife and I were married on her parents' acreage in Oregon, with a Wiccan priestess giving us our non-denominational ceremony. We made our vows to each other, and God never entered into it.

We have been happily married for over seven years, and I want nothing more than to spend the rest of my life with this woman. Who needs God?

Marriage is a legal institution. It originated as a transfer of property contract. The religious overtones came much later.
