Consider three things. First, look into getting some help in taking care of her. Medicaid pays for weekly visits by nurses and nurses aids. Second, get yourself into a support group for caretakers of those with dementia. This isn't a situation that is going to be solved overnight, and you need your own life. You will meet people in the support group who have been in you shoes and find out how they coped with it, and what resources are available to you in your community. 3) Talk to her doctor about what to expect as it progresses. It will make it easier to bear

I'm so sorry about your grandmother, my mother had it too. Since she's in her beginning stages look into home care for her. Private care would be best and offer around the clock care, but it's expensive. Catholic Charities are a big help in finding help that medicare will cover, but only for 4 hours a day. As her dementia progress nursing care would be best for her. There are some good nursing homes that will take care of here. Don't try to take care of her on your own It wouldn't be fair to you or her if you did. I learned this the hard way. You will burn yourself out with trying to take care of her and working.

Go to the Social Security Administration and find out if there are any programs in your area which will help you care for her.

There are places that provide adult daycare now.

And get out and take a walk now and then. Get your family to help you care for her.

You may even find a support group.
