Noxema cream, and lots of it. Take one Benadryl for allergies plus one aspirin or tylenol tablet every 6 hours, drink plenty, and I do mean plenty of water. Stay out of the sun! Do NOT take warm or hot showers. Wash by rinsing a wash cloth in luke warm to cool water and gently squeezing the water over your body.
If pain is intense or you have very deep red, or dark purplish burn areas, and or you have blistering, get to a hospital. You may want to do that anyway as a precaution. After you cover yourself in Noxema, put on loose fitting cotton undershirts (oversized are better) and light bboxers, or loose short pajamas.
The Benadryl tablet and aspirin will reduse inflamation and pain. Noxema is a cold cream, that soaks into the skin, and becomes somewhat waxy, that's when you put on another coat, right over the first one, keep coating your skin with it, it soothes the burn immediately, and cools the skin down, you will have instant relief.
You can also use simple Bactine, spray it onto your skin, stand in the shower if need be. Noxema lasts longer though and does a much more effective job.
You will need to rest. You may notice that the pain is worse at night, try to sleep during the day if possible, as you may be up at night. You may also notice that you feel quite cold or chilled at night, your body is throwing off a lot of heat. Use a light cotton sheet over a recliner or sofa to protect furniture from the Noxema when you are resting. If you experience nausea, severe headaches, see your doctor. Again, you may want to do that anyway as a precaution....Remember! SPF 35 or higher, hat and asunglasses. Take care and good luck.

Oddly enough, I always had several different brands of ointment on hand, because it seemed that sometimes one brand that had worked the time before wouldn't do the trick, but a different brand that might not have done anything before worked wonders. I usually used A&D (not the white creamy kind with the blue writing on the label, but the yellowish, clearish colored kind with the yellow/brown writing on the label) That brand consistenly worked very well for my son, however like I said, there were times that the A&D didn't work at all and another brand worked wonders. I only had luck with Desitin once, but also found that Bordeaux's Butt Paste worked great (Wal-Mart carries it) It's the messiest of all the brands very thick and not as easy to apply but it worked for some of his most stubborn diaper rashes. Another time, what I thought was just a bad diaper rash where NOTHING was doing the trick ended up being some form of yeast and I had to get a prescription cream from the pediatrician that cleared it up in about a day. I also used vaseline once with a lot of baby powder and that also worked. Basically, each time my son got a diaper rash I had to try different brands until I found one that worked, and then the next time, it was usually a different brand that worked, so I always kept at least 2-3 brands on hand but usually more.

Aloe Vera Gel is the best thing for a sunburn that is causing you problems. One other thing is oatmeal. You can go to any pharmacy or WalMart type place and get Aloe Vera Gel and oatmeal burn cream. Either one will help. When it starts to heal and gets itchy tho, the oatmeal will stop the itching! Trust me, I live where the sun never goes away and I burn fairly easily!

you could try rubbing alcohol on a cotton ball, it will cool it a bit, and keep it disinfected so that it won't get infected, but once it opens at all, the blisters pop, or the skin starts to peel, it might not feel too good....... we used to use Bactine, it's in an aresol spray can, and it's cheap,,,, most pharmacies carry it. they also do make an aloe gel for sunburns. best thing tho for feeling better, is noxema spread generously on it, then cover with an ice cold washrag,,, get it wet, then lay it flat in the freezer for a few minutes......

good luck, i hate that feeling!!!!!

Aloe Vera.. its works perfectly! well at least on me. you can go to wall greens or and convienent store and purchase a burn relief gel that contains aloe vera in it. it will relieve your sun burn and by the next day youll have less of it. in my case it completely took it away...

When applied to a burn, aloe-vera juice relieves the pain immediately and cools the skin. Aloe encourages the skin to regenerate and prevents infection of the wound. Dip a sterile cloth in aloe juice, place it on the burned area and change the dressing several times daily, or pour the juice into a spray bottle and spray it on the affected area.

hope this helps!

sun burns are always a pain in the ***!

Definitely buy yourself an aloe plant. You then proceed gently to break off one of the succulent stems, then spread the gel onto your hands and apply liberally to the burn.

It ain't snake oil, and it smells kinds funny, but it will make the burn feel better and definitely by tomorrow it will hurt a whole lot less.

Good luck!

Trade a lotta pain for no pain. Jump in the shower with water as hot as you can stand. Stay in there for 15 minutes. I guarantee your pain will go away. I still do this for my sunburns.

well this won't heal it but it will cool the burn down. either aloe creams or gels, and if u can't find that then use Noxzema. Noxzema is hard to scrub off so the aloe gels will be better.
