Biblical scholars have often disagreed about tithing and if it is commanded of the Church today. There is a good argument saying, the tithe is not for the church, but you will never hear a pastor preach on it. You need to search the scriptures to see what it says about the tithe: Is the tithe just money, is it your talents also, is it goods you donate to the Church, is it your gross pay, is it your net pay, are people on Social Security expected to pay a tithe (if they already tithed on their gross income, it's as if God's expecting more than 10%) or are you to give what's laid on your heart. Some Jews of today have to pay for their seat at synagogue and at High Holidays; their is no tithe. I don't think their is a definitive answer. I give only what I can give cheerfully. This last year it winded up being more then 10%. I have studied tithing and there are good argument for it and against it.

I struggled with it for years, and would usually scrape up some dollars at the end of the month - when I began to make it a priority and give 10% joyfully as soon as I earned it, I've been blessed far more than I ever thought possible. I know where the money goes in my church - there are expenses, salaries, ministries both locally and internationally, as well as funds for those who are in need. I'm not getting ripped off, God says in Malachi 3:10 "Bring the whole tithe into the storehouse, that there may be food in my house. Test me in this," says the LORD Almighty, "and see if I will not throw open the floodgates of heaven and pour out so much blessing that you will not have room enough for it."

We don't give 10% but we cheerfully give thousands of dollars each year to our church and a variety of charities. Tithing is not part of the New Covenant. If you read Hebrews 7, which addresses tithing specifically, you'll see that the regulations of the Levitical priesthood are abolished. One of the defining characteristics of the Christian faith is freedom. We are not bound by the law but by grace. We are free! Free to give more, give less, give with our time, give in non-monetary ways. Free.

I tithe. Always have, since I was a little girl. I don't view at as something I have to do, but something I get to do. I get to help support the church that ministers to the city. It's my way of equipping the church for the work of the ministry. Yes, God commands it, but its still our choice. And yes, sometimes I give more. You can't outgive God. He is faithful to keep His word. He tells us in the Bible that "give and it shall be given to you..." He back to us in many ways. I have truly been blessed financially, physically, and emotionally. Everyway I can be. I get stuff given to me all the time for no real reason. Just blessings. Tithing in the correct attitude really works!!!

I have given 13-14% for many years; I give probably 25% of my total gross income to promote the Gospel or help the needy. I earn less than 40K per year. I have no debts, no needs, no greeds.
I give all the glory to God, who has made me a cheerful giver - I only wish I could give more.
I reckon myself to be only an average Christian - many in 3rd world and communist countries are giving their all - including their lives.
I can testify to the truth of God according to II Corinthians 9:8 "And God is able to make all grace abound to you, that always having all sufficiency in all things, you may have an abundance for every good deed"

I tithe and give cheerfully. If you give grudgingly then it will not be a blessing to God and you will have given in vain.

I tithe and give more. The Bible says the God loves a cheerful giver. I believe that tithing is another way that God wants us to express or faith in him through our action. When you only have 100 to you name, have bills to pay, and need gas in the car and food to eat, it takes a might lot of faith to give ten dollars plus another five on top of that. I done it before. But you feel good about it afterward, especially when you reap your harvest.

Yes I do because Gods word tells us to.And if you love God you will just want to,because you love him, after all it all belongs to God anyway. If you want to be blessed you will pay your tithes.Malachi 3:10 says Bring ye all the tithes into the storehouse, that there may be meat in mine house, and prove me now herewith, saith the Lord of hosts,if I will not open you the windows of heaven, and pour out a blessing, that there shall not be room enough to receive it.
