Does anyone ever feel like when they paint something spiritual is guiding them?

Question

Whenever I paint, they always end up very spiritual looking, unplanned tho. I just go w/the flow and wonder where these idea's come from??
Do you ever feel like your being guided in some way?

I've been an artist all my life before and after I became a christian. Before I thought I was being guided by my own spirituality, and the Creator of this universe. As a Christian I don't feel that all the artwork is spiritual, that sometimes it just comes out of our moods or subconscious thoughts. Occasionally I will paint a picture that was inspired by the Lord, and I will know it was inspired usually after someone is truly blessed by some revelation or emotion as they view it.

Most people have some spiritual streak or longing. Sometimes it's expressed, most times not. Does inspiration coming from within, without?
Being 'guided' suggests what, angels, spirit guides, 'invisible friends'? These are extremely deep questions, eh?
Who knows? Go with the flow; it might lead you to your 'source'!

I’m the same way in my art style. I rarely plan what I do and I often have the feeling of something powerful. Art is powerful, but I don’t think god is painting through you, if that is what you mean. I’m an Atheist.

I painted a church once. I didn't feel guided, just tired.
