Bubble gum isnt good for you because the sugar isnt so great on the teeth. Sugarless gum however is. I would say gum is good for you. Its something people chew to stop smoking, or eating alot which both improves health. Also chewing gum keeps your mouth moving which means your lease likely to say something thats gonna get you in trouble. NO GUM IS NOT BAD FOR YOU!

Yes, it's bad. It can decay your teeth, misalign your jaw, give you headaches, and make you look like a cow standing dumbly on a hillside chewing cud. It can set you up for chewing tobacco instead (at least if you're a baseball player). If you don't bother to throw it away properly (and so many people don't) it is a terrible hygiene and environmental problem. Just my opinion.

Well, sugar free is better for your teeth, but it can still loosen fillings and it sure messes you up if you have TMJ.

Some studies show that chewing gum can have an indirect positive effect on your teeth. Gum can stimulate production of saliva and increase salivary flow. Saliva is a natural buffering agent which washes the teeth and neutralizes some of the acid produced by bacteria. It is the acid which erodes enamel and eventually causes cavities. Also, some people do not produce sufficient saliva. One study showed that after chewing gum for 10 minutes each waking hour for two weeks, participants increased their salivary flow to a functional level and increased salivary pH and buffering capacity.
Plus gum contains aspertame the same thing they embolm bodies with
I think this is important enough and there is a lot of information already on the web that I thought to post it to my website with some links below to other information and discussion on Aspertame. Also I have heard that Aspertame is possibly being put into sugar imported from other countries. Read your labels folks!! Be-Aware!! Also finally someone is suing the companies making and distributing Aspertame. See the first link for more info including links to some newer sites (sorry I havn't been able to update this page with newer links etc.). Please read your labels, let people know. Stay away from Aspertame. For that matter add MSG, and Sucralose as well as anything made with Olean to the list of questionable - non-foods which you probably should avoid.
NEWS: April 6, 2004 - Aspertame Lawsuits accuse many companies of POISONING - SACRAMENTO-- April 6th, Lawsuits were filed in three separate California courts against twelve companies who either produce or use the artificial sweetener aspartame as a sugar substitute in their products. The suits were filed in Shasta, Sonoma and Butte County, California. The suits allege that the food companies committed fraud and breach of warranty by marketing products to the public such as diet Coke, diet Pepsi, sugar free gum, Flintstone's vitamins, yogurt and children's aspirin with the full knowledge that aspartame, the sweetener in them, is neurotoxic. full text of press release
Aspertamekills.com - Catchy name eh. Well I havn't read through this site completely but it appears whomever is doing it - has a tremendous amount of links to papers, etc. Go read them for yourself. I wish I could get my Biochemist friend over here to explain a few details of the neural-chemistry. But I know enough that formic acid, and methanol are NOT good things to put in your body. Why hasn't someone done the analysis of Diet-Coke, Pepsi subjected to 100+Farenheit to determine some percentages - Perhaps someone has and I havn't found it yet. e-mail me if you find some information.
Another Good information source - Again not the classiest site - but there are links to good information. I havn't yet checked out all of this either. Read - learn - be-aware.
Some independant Scientific Info - By Mark Gold (mail) Looks like he did some basic literature research. All intersting and valuable. But still no definate analysis of Diet drinks - even Pepsi - to determine what kind of concentrations of various break down products might exist in them at various temperatures/duration scenarios.
Aspartame (Nutrasweet) Toxicity Information Info Center - Mark Gold has quite a bit of information here. Nice articles etc. I wrote him a letter asking if he has some chemical analysis of Aspertame drinks under various storage conditions. Well Mark very Promptly wrote back. It seems the methanol issue isn't cut and dry. Here is a copy of his reply with my first message to him on this topic.
Methanol Issue - Abuse of Scientific Method by Monsanto in Aspartame Research Please see a very old article I found relating to protective factors. It was written long ago by John Uri Lloyd

How to Detox - On the above site - Just figured to put a direct link. Check out detox step 3. My friend who is responsible for putting me on to the origional Aspertame stuff believes based on physical symptoms correlated with injestion that he has problems with MSG.. It really makes me wonder what the hell we are doing to ourselves.. Nature has effectively provided all the things we need. Science has helped greatly - but I feel we have moved past sensical use of science - to search for truth - and into the realm of using science to backup anyone with enough money to have slews of sympathetic scientists.. This has to change - It is time we the people formed our own independant PDA (Peoples Drug Agency) to keep up on these issues - provide real information - pro and con - do yet more independant research. It's sad contrast how we are still can get Aspertame - but how quickly a potentially useful Cancer/Aids cure/treatment Cancell was effectively destroyed by FDA lawsuits.
