The reason I ask, is that I read on a site where I was looking up abdominal exercises that one of the people said no number of exercises can overcome genetics,. . and if your abdominal muscle breaks into six parts thats what you have. The caveat of course is that he said this doesn't mean that if you have exercised and have six, that you don't have eight. . maybe you just haven't developed the lowers well. BUT, it could mean that your ab genetically develops into six areas. .which he mentioned was the majority of the populous. The reason I ask for myself, is that I am beginning to train my stomach and if there is a way to help it develop into eight I would prefer it, but If it is geneticaly impossible. . well then I'll just do standard exercises.

Yes muscles are genetic (1).

The 6-8 Pack Abs you see in the media (TV, Mag's, ect) are from professionals who are workout junkies with good genetics. Actors often hire "Body Doubles" for movies. Body builders will even use makeup to enhance the muscle definition in body building competitions.

The 6-8 Pack Abs are ephemeric in nature (quickly fleeting) when not worked out .... Proof: Brad Pitt had the best in the movie, "Thelma & Louise" ... however, I guarantee you that he'd never put a top on again if those things were long lasting ... for the most part, he hides his abs now because he doesn't have them 365/year. The abdoninal muscles will deplete within 1 - 2months if not INTENSLY trained.

However, it is good to work the "Core" Section of your body to greatly improve your life: Better Balance, Stronger walk, and longer healthier life.

That's bull, you just have to do ab exercises that concentrate on the two under-developed abs. The genetic part is how well your going to be able to see the top two. Some peoples chests extend over them more than others. But just like anything else, if you work hard enough and are doing it the right way, you will get the results you need. The hardest thing for some to overcome when trying to get well defined abs (myself included) is committing to the upwards of a 1000 situps and other ab exercises it requires to develop them. That and eliminating body fat (which usually covers abs).

All my reviews including Gray'Anatomy does not show that 8 pack exist.

The muscle is the RECTUS ABDOMINIS that run perpendicular up from the pubis to the coastal margins; one on each side of the midline (linea alba). Eachmuscle is divided into three parts by 2 tendinous intersections . The lowest that we see is at level of the umbilicus.

The six pack being visible or not is entirely and solely dependent on our WHOLE body fat %.. Exercise will in no way increase it to 8 pack.

Good Luck.

It's not genetic, it is all in how you train. If one wants larger muscles they need to preform certain exercises to develop them.
