There are a lot of products out there you can buy at any retail store really that leave a completely fowl taste on your nails.
I too bite my nails on and off, and will bite them even if the stuff is on my nails (depending on stress level, nervousness, etc).
Its really just getting in the habit of not doing it and telling yourself to stop.
Good luck!

There is this product that I purchased last week that will do wonders!! It's a unbelievable personal nail salon kit that is made of all natural minerals from the dead sea! In the kit there is it a "Buffing block", "Body lotion", and "Cuticle oil". Now, this product is just unreal the results that you get. And it last for 5 years. The block is used to strengthen and natural shine your nails, the cuticle oil is to remove the dead skin from around your nails, and the lotion is a natural exfoliate your skin. I don't know how the do it but I'm telling you it works every well!! And the best part about it is that when u strengthen your nails...it is said that you can't bite threw them and if u see how your nails look afterward...you wont want to!! I bought the product in the mall at a discount price so I'm not sure how mush it is is but there is a web site you can go to to look it all up. It is www.seacretspa.com. The product name is Secret from the dead sea. I don't know if this helps you but it's the best I can give you. Hope it all works out!!

I would try buying a no-bite nail polish. You can get it at a drugstore, like Walgreens or CVS...usually it's clear, and it has a bitter taste so you dont want to bite your nails.

If that doesnt work, take her to get her nails done--not like 3 inch acrylics, but just really simple--maybe light pink or french tips, depending on how old she is. Once your daughter sees how good her nails look, she wont want to ruin them by biting them!

Hope this works...

You don't have to buy anything, you can get the same effect by putting several drops of hot sauce into her favorite nail polish. If her nail biting is subconcious, then have her give herself a mini-mani and apply a good lotion and wear gloves. This time of year, especially, she can get away with wearing those out of the house... Plus then, her hands will be smooth and soft to go with the newly grown nails. Good luck! ♥

When I was young, I used to have a bad habit of biting my nails and sucking my fingers all the time. What my parents did was soak my fingers in grapefruit juice often so that when I put my fingers in my mouth I would taste the bitterness. You can try putting the taste of something that she doesn't like on her fingernails so that eventually she'll stop biting her nails.

They are a lot of products you can use. They have this nail polish that you can put on. When you bite, it fills your mouth with a very bitter taste. I've used it, and it does work, it just might take time.

There is bitter tasting clear nail polish out there somewhere. I don't know what it is called or where to get it, but it is made speciffically for this purpose. Another thought is a professional manicure with acrylic tips.

Go to Walmart. They sell a bad tasting nail polish to help her stop. Just put it on, and the taste is so bad...you will never bite again =]

It sounds like she is doing it as a means to diffuse stress. I would talk to her, and see what's happening in her life, and show her some alternate means of dealing with stressful situations. If that doesn't work, offer her a bribe of some type if she goes one week without biting, or two weeks, etc.
