I've had a sore throat for over a week now, and the pain was just getting worse. I went to an ENT and it turns out I have a big throat ulcer. For some reason, it hurts a lot more when I first wake up every morning. Could this be because of acid reflux or something? Is acid getting into my throat while I sleep? And maybe that's what's causing the ulcer to stick around for so long? If so, what can I do to help this? I just want this throat ulcer to go away so I can go on with my life. Would it help if I just took a Zantac before I went to bed each night? Any other suggestions on what this could be or ways to treat acid reflux if that's what it is?

The ENT should have been able to tell you or at least suggest some additional tests. If you do have acid reflux, Nexium is a good prescription to help with that. There are many other things you can do to reduce the stomach acids. Don't eat 2-3 hours before going to bed. Prop the head of your bed up 4-6 inches. Don't just add pillows.

Also, if you snore a lot, that could be contributing to the problem.

Just like any other illness, patience is required.

You could try the Zantac for a few nights, but your sore throat could be caused by breathing in through your mouth while you are sleeping.

I'm surprised that the ENT didn't prescribe something, or at least tell you what your next move should be. You should see a gastroenterologist, in case it actually is acid reflux.

You have to check your blood ph level. if it is acid then you are prone to infection. You can minimize the ammount of bacteria in your mouth by brushing, flossing rinsing with a hydrogen peroxide solution and to control acid reflux and acidity in your blood try Himalayan Goji Juice. Find it online @ http://www.jrl.freelife.com If you don't like flossing try waterpick you can buy that in amazon @ http://www.amazon.com/WaterPik-WP-72-Professional-Dental-Water/dp/B000063SLQ/sr=8-3/qid=1167941732/ref=pd_bbs_sr_3/103-1801028-0555029?ie=UTF8&s=hpc
