Why do people say certain things, yet their actions show the exact opposite? Why do people hold on to someone if they dont really want them? Why do people make someone believe that they wanna be with them and make this world of illusion just to please them, when they really have other ideas? WHY??? But most of all.. If someone is not interested in someone else anymore, why cant they just let them go and let them be happy? Instead they make them believe they still want them...just to hurt them later on, cause they will find out eventually that they dont? But what i dont get is why?? If u wanna be with someone else, why cant they just say so BE HONEST!! why do they have to INSIST on telling lies and make them believe that u do?? Im getting sick of this kinda crap. I'd much rather a girl be straight with me and say that they dont wanna be with me and dont like me no more and dont want nothing to do with me, tho it will hurt, BUT atleast id know the true and eventually move on.

Ok i dont think you guys are understanding what im asking or talkin about, cause alot of you say they're are afraid of rejection. This isint something that happens in the heat of the moment...ok this is very subtle i mean this girl just seems like she is not interested in me anymore BUT she says that she is and wants to make it up to me. I dont get why she keeps making me believe she wants tobe with me, when she really doesnt(BTW i do still have feelings for her and she knows that and she also knows because of that she can say w/e as far as wanting to be with me and etc...and ill believe it) I cant really say in detail whats goin on...cause its very vague and confusing. But again, why cant she let me go? why make me believe she still wants when she really doesnt anymore? Its not fair to me.

Some people will hold on to someone they don't want, to keep from being alone. Then they'll cheat on that person until they find someone else. Unfortunately, the victim involved is caught completely off guard when they're finally dumped. It's a cruel game, to say the least.

To protect yourself from being a victim, you must be wise enough to know when a girl is playing games with you. When your girlfriend starts lying to you, breaking dates, not returning phone calls, and spending more time with her girlfriends than with you, it's time to go. You sound like a really nice guy; but it's not enough to be nice. The saying, "nice guys finish last," is very true. You can be nice, but you also must be smart.

When a girl stops being straight with you (and you'll begin to know when girls are playing games), drop her. Don't be afraid of being alone for a minute. Drop her before she drops you. And if you get tired of being with a girl, be sure you follow your own suggestion and are straight with her. Have the decency to let her go, instead of holding on until you find somebody else.

I once felt the same way you did. About a year ago I was in a relationship, I was happy and I thought he was too but he wasnt. The whole time he was leading me on to think we had a future together and then one day I find out that every word that I thought was true and sincere was all a bunch of lies. I was really hurt by it. I really have no idea why people lead you to believe things that arent true. What I found out is that there is no real answer for that question because it could be so many possibilities, but Im sorry that a girl did this to you and I know how you feel if want to talk about it more email me.

Sometimes there are WAY more factors and variables at play. But I'd be willing to bet that you know the answer to these questions, because you've done it yourself. Maybe not something so serious as in a relationship, but you HAVE "pretended" at SOME point in life with something. Maybe you told your grandmother her new lamp shade was nice because you really didn't want to hurt her feelings (you really thought it was ugly, or, just plain didn't give a sh*t). Stupid example, I know, but I'm just making the point that stuff like this happens all the time, and EVERYONE does it... including you.

Do some soul searching and you'll figure out why people say things they don't mean, and everything else you listed.

But trust me, you're just as guilty. I know you are.

Often people act as though they do not want another but the truth is their afraid to lose them just in case. Speaking/hearing the truth scares most people so they say what they think the other person wants to hear and often hear NOT what was said but what they want to hear. I tell all my friends and relations this right from the start, "don't ask if you cant handle the truth" I have a handful of friends but they all know where they stand in my life. Tell this person to grow up and stop playing games, when she does she can look you up, then walk away. DON'T look back or come to her when she calls after you, and she will.

Some people think that are saying what people want to hear.
Some people want to believe what they hear when they know its a lie, because of maybe fear.
You are a much better person whit out her.
Let someone else put up with the lies.

People lie out of fear! Even though thier not happy in a relationship thier fear of being alone or fear of rejection from an unknown is greater. Thier not trying to hurt you on prupose thier just trying to minimize thier hurt. It's called survival of the fittest and it's human nature!

they're very afraid of rejection.

with your additional details, she's afraid of getting rejected by her first choice, so she's just keeping you around as a back-up. You're being used. Reject her and she'll come crawling back. You may also attract more girls with this demonstration of strength.

Sounds to me like she is not sure about her feelings for you and is afraid that if she lets you go completely she will regret it later.
