The only "sin" is hurting someone or yourself. The reason anyone "sins" is ignorance. Enlightenment comes with learning and understanding, not with pointless punishment for punishment's sake. Whoever invented hell -- and whoever really, deep-down believes in it -- perverts and insults the very nature of "God".

A man who gains the whole world profits a great deal, especially since he has no soul to lose. If I had a soul and could sell it, I would exchange it for endless loving intimacy with the woman I love....Alas I have no soul to sell and so like most men, must beg, grovel and crawl on my belly in servitude to profit even a little from her attentions. At moments like these I wish God were real and I had a soul to sell to the devil for a little lovin'. An eternity in hell could not obliterate the memory of a lifetime of loving from the one I want. Sigh! Never can find the Devil when I want him...oh well back to grovelling....

I don't think, even if you ask, that most people consider the "sins" they commit the pinnacle of their existence. Our lives are to be considered as a whole. Perfect? hardly. Redemptive? only if we ask. Sex, drugs, and rock n' roll? Distractions. But remember Moses was a killer before he lead the Hebrews out of Egypt. And the Apostle Paul was a persecutor of Christians.

The idea of sin is based not on the Adam and Eve characters to which it is attributed but to the law of Moses! It was not until the law of Moses (Exodus 20) that there was any way by which people could deturmine if they were sinning or not!
Dispite the LACK OF LAW for over 1,500 years this did not stop the bible God from calling people wicked and evil in Genesis 6:5. This God then killed who knows how many even though there was no way to establish if they were in fact evil or not! THERE WAS NO LAW!!!
Then this God said find ten righteous and I will spare the city. How can you find any without a set of laws by which to establish who is doing good and who is not???
Then there is the plagues in egypt! There was still no law and this God wasn't satisfied until he murdered innocent babies!!!
NOW YOU WANT TO SIT AND TELL ME THAT ANYTHING I DO CAN IN ANY WAY COMPARE TO THE PURE EVIL OF THIS GOD????? I THINK NOT!!!
NOT EVEN HITLER WAS AS EVIL AS THIS GOD!!!

The answer is obvious: The whole world!
Specifically the sex is worth it assuming you didn't catch anything incurable. Drugs, ditto. Rock n' roll - positively!

Why thank you Pascal, now that you put it that way....
Your logic fails my dear because it fails to take into account the thousands of other scenarios religious people like to defend. By your logic I would be best served to pick the religion with the worst hell and follow that (if you think a lake of fire is bad, check out what happens to Islam's infidels).

Be careful my Christian sister. Pointing out the sin of others is easy but the fact is we all sin. Christ came for the lifelong sinner who asks for salvation on his deathbed the same way he comes for a lifelong Christian (who also is a lifelong sinner). Remember Christ taught far more about loving one another than He did "Hell's eternal fire". Our first duty as Christians is to Love one another!

You assume things not in evidence. "Eternal fire"? Did you make that up or is it hearsay? If a man could gain the whole world, he must have a whole lot of soul.

what would it profit a man to lack an eventful life and never experience anythign only to find out when he dies that he did it for no reason.
sorry you cant prove the after life, u CAN prove this life. and seeing as this is our one and ONLY life known to be, im going to spend it doing things i enjoy, eating things i want without worries. i refuse to spend my entire life worried that a being wont accept me for me.
after all, if your sleeping for 1/3 of your life, working for approximately another 1/3 of your life, why spend the rest of it worried about what your doing is ok or not.
*shrug*
