This has been going on for months now, as soon as the neighbor moved in. The HOA and the Police have been contacted, but they just issue verbal warnings and have not been able to get the owner to keep the dog quiet. I don't feel comfortable speaking to the neighbor in person. This dog keeps me up all night...I rarely get a good night's sleep...and I am very frustrated. Any advice?

If calling the police isn't doing any good...call your Animal Control people. Here, I had to call twice.....thne on the third time I was able to file a complaint. We had to go to court. This guy inserted his own foot in his mouth. I didn't have to saya thing. I won...he ended up getting rid of the dog.

Hope this helps. And good luck! Just please don't hurt the dog...it's actually not his fault..it's the owners.

I had the same problem a few years ago. Everyone in the neighborhood called the police and animal control frequently. They would come out issue a verbal warning and then tell us the dogs will be confiscated on the next call, but they never were. Luckily at the time we were renters and moved out after a year of sleepless nights. Your HOA may have more power over the situation, see if some of the other neighbors are complaining to them as well. I feel for you, just keep complaining and remember it's not the dog's fault it's their owner.

Our neighbors had put a note on our door explaining the problem we then put a better control on our pups which only bark during the day and are usually in bed by 8PM. Afterwards they found out it was not our dog that was the problem but the dog the next house over. The note worked well, just make sure it is written good and that you have the right dog. Otherwise keep calling the police or animal control. Cities usually have dog rules where they have to be quiet after a certain time usually 9-10pm and after that animal control can take them away and give them a fine/penalty before they can have their pet back.

Call your local "county dog Control & Shelter" where you get the dog licenses. I had to send them an email on a neighbor just recently as well. I know exactly how you feel. I just don't understand these heartless people that keep there dog outside all day long especially in the rainy weather. Then here eventually if they don't take the advice they will have to be taken to the local humane society.

Write a polite note to the owner, tell him that you find it difficult to sleep, and ask him if there is anything that can be done. Or give him the phone number of a very good dog trainer. Remember though, he might feel about his dog as others feel about their kids, so be as kind as you can! :-)

Call the cops again, tke pictures of the smashed windshield and gang symbol. If they do not help, try and snoop a bit, see if you can get hard evidence of them doing something illegal (though the noise pollution counts) and then report that illegal activity. If the cops do not respond, call again saying Nevermind, I shot the guy. Cops will swarm over, see that the people are doing something illegal, arrest them, and when they ask you about the shooting, just say, "I thought no one was able to respond," or whtever else they said. DONT ACTUALLY SHOOT THE PEOPLE THOUGH!

Some people I know solved that problem by pouring turpentine on the dog's rear end. Trust me. It worked The sound of a shotgun would work too...here in the south anyhow

there really is nothing you can do. unless you have a rule about pets in your neighborhood...or a noise ordinance people are going to do things that disturb their neighbors in one form or the other. I have neighbors that let their kids ride mini bikes and dirt bikes in front of our house... and another that plays loud music. So I suggest ear plugs! good luck

Call your Mayor's office and complain about the police's response to your complaint. The Mayor has authority over the police department.

You haven't done the one thing that you should have done to begin with and that is to speak with the neighbor.
