I don't know about this particular Macaw, but I have a green wing - most birds are scared when they change owners, especially if they are not hand reared.
You must give him time to come round to you, speak to him all the time in a reassuring voice. They soon sense you want to be friends.
You don't say what age he is or how you got him. If he's come from a home that abused him, it is difficult to say how long this process will take.
Each day put your hand in the cage, but don't scare him, try feeding him from your hand and if he will take the food, gently put your hand under his breast and ask him to step up. Keep trying this and praise him if he does this.
Patience is a virtue with birds, but hey will learn to trust and you must show them respect to earn this trust.
Good luck.

Birds need alot of attention to become attached to a person.. try putting his cage up in your bedroom..only letting him see you for a long while. Take him out repeatedly and handle him..try feeding him from your hand as well.. this should get him used to you and attached.. building up your bond together is key!

I've had my parrot 15 years and he's still a grumpy sod. It just takes them time and on the odd day they show you they like you. They all have different personalities and like to get their own way. Good luck on the many years of noise!!!

do you already know the place your fowl grew to become into hatched and raised? Wild-caught birds in no way grow to be very friendly with people because of the fact they view people as skill predators to be tolerated yet no longer depended on. on the different hand, they are person-friendly birds to reproduce because of the fact they are strongly interested in individuals of their very own species. puppy shops fee bigger expenses for closed-banded birds than open-banded birds. The closed-band can purely be placed on infant birds. meaning they have been dealt with by skill of people and are not afraid of the factors of interest, sounds and scents of the common human ecosystem. the optimal priced birds are hand-reared meaning they have been taken out of the nest purely approximately as quickly as they have been hatched. for this reason, they are imprinted on people and take care of their vendors as though they have been a member of their very own flock. on the different hand, they are very perplexing to reproduce because of the fact they are not strongly interested in individuals of their very own species. some vendors even ***** approximately their hand-reared birds making sexual advances to them.
