What do you believe is the purposes of the church? Do you know what Rick Warren's says the purposes are?
I would like to have a scripture reference for each item you list.
Also, where is the scripture that talks about the importance of having sound doctrine? Or holding onto doctrine?

I realize that the church is not a building but the people, that is the community of believers. I am asking what are the purposes for this community of believers?

The church is the body of Christ and our purpose is to do his will and his work.
"It was he who gave some to be apostles, some to be prophets, some to be evangelists, and some to be pastors and teachers, to prepare God's people for works of service, so that the body of Christ may be built up until we all reach unity in the faith and in the knowledge of the Son of God and become mature, attaining to the whole measure of the fullness of Christ." (Ephesians 4:11-13)

Church serves as a place for religious holy men to gather crowds of people for the purpose of entertaining them in exchange for money.
After an hour or so of entertainment you are expected to put money in the preacher's hat as his choir sings you a song about charity.
