My sister dropped her digital camera into the sand during our visit to Pebble Beach. The sand got into the lens and won't come out. Repairs seem more expensive than the camera. My parents think we should get a new camera.

i believe digital cams are sensitive. i hope the sand is dry that got in to your cam...cause if it is wet, then your cam might have less chance to function again....cleaning may help..if you decide to buy new,try this first..try carefully open it (rmember: first removed must be last to install when assembling.)and clean it by blowing a pressurerized air (no moist) and a soft tissue to clean the lens and try using it...i think this might help...gud luck..

Sand and digital cameras just don't mix...it would be better to just buy a new camera...AND KEEP IT AWAY FROM THE BEACH!

It may work for a while up until you need for it to work. Keep a back-up camera close.
