This is merely for easier transition. Jumping straight from the rags you have been wearing because you give all your money to the church like a good Christian into a new glorified body is simply too much for some people to handle. So they take it in steps by starting with a suit on their former body.
Baby steps, Sho.

Christians are raised as spirit beings after death. Glorified bodies are given during the resurrection.
I suppose a spirit costume of sorts could be fashoned for the deceased, if so inclined.

The out of control money-grubbing of the funeral industry. 2-8 thousand dollars for a box that is seen briefly and never again? A fancy costume for th... HAH "All dressed up, and no place to go.", has new meaning for me. Its a pageant of useless flash.
"Look how much money we have to throw at a corpse."
And the flower money...
Burn me put me in a jar, and give the 10 grand to a freakin' charity.

I don't know when or where this custom came about, but as a Christian I say cremate me. There's no sense lying around in a coffin in my best dress rotting away. It's really gross if you think of it AND a waste of perfectly good real estate for the cemetaries.

Maybe because everyone doesn't really want to be looking at Grandma's "goodies" (I believe that is the technical term) while she's laying in state.
Although it would make funerals more interesting. Imagine the attendance when Halle Berry passes away!

I don't know. I don;t understand christians.
If the shortest distance between two points is a straight line, then the christians would make awesome maze designers.

Maybe just out of respect, to have closure for our loss of that person as we knew them?
I dont know, I dont think I want a bunch of people looking at my old wrinkly body after I pass. I dont think they want to see that either.
