My son is 6th grade, his friend goes to John Hopkins for summer junior program. It is 3 weeks long and cost about $3,000. I am wondering if it is worth to spend that much money to go there? I would love to hear the feedback and know how much it benefit the kid’s future study.

I'm not sure which program you're referring to. He sounds too young to be eligible for the regular JHU summer program where you take classes there. It sounds more like the CTY program.

I did the Center for Talented Youth program. Worth is highly dependent on your financial situation. It's not too unlike summer camp, but instead of building bird feeders and other crafts, you take a pretty advanced course for your age.

I suppose the class was helpful to me, but a main benefit I got was learning from the counselors they had. They were sort of the dorm advisors to watch over us. One was from Berkeley and one was from Stanford. It was really helpful learning from them. Both on how to get into a top college as well as general life stuff. I don't have an older sibling to learn this stuff from.

as long as you meet particular (undefined) minimums, you would be in the pool of functional potentialities for admission to elite colleges. despite in case you actual get in is a great deal a crapshoot, and no particular technique works in each and every case. If available, you will desire to connect your college's IB (worldwide Baccalaureate) application, or pass to a school on your district that provides IB. Elite universities love the IB, and despite in case you don't get in to an elite college, the IB is the suited available training for the pains of faculty.
