to become an la sheriff, you will need to have a minimum of 60 college credits, in any field. you will have no felonies, and only very light misdemeanors. and you will need to be a legal us citizen. then when you first get hired, you will be a non sworn officer for 4 years, which means you dont carry a gun, and your jopb will either be taking reports at crime scenes, or working the jail system, but more than likely your gonna have to do the jail... then after 4 years, you get sworn in, and you get a squad car, and your all set, im doing the same thing in sacramento

Before making a decision go on a ride along first and see what the job entails. Not for everyone but there are some things you should know, call the local station and ask for the best deputy to ride along with and then go ride some shifts. Good Luck
