I am 18 years old and I feel that some areas in my life need improvement. I don't feel like an adult, mainly because my parents are kind of controlling and haven't really allowed to do much over the years. I just need some advice on how to behave more like a young woman, I know that there are things that I'll have to experience on my own, but if anyone has any advice for me, that would be great. Also, I need to become more mature and wise, so that when me and my boyfriend get back together, I can be the woman I need to be in order for us to have a successful relationship. Please help...

Sorry for the misunderstanding, I didn't mean that I'm doing this to get him back. I meant that their are some changes that I need to make and he needs to make so that we can have a mature relationship.

There's nothing to help you head down this path faster than independence and responsibility. Leave home, if you haven't already. College is a great gateway to this, because there's still resources you can use if you need help but you are technically out on your own. When you have left the nest, you are an independent adult.

Take care of your adult life in a responsible way. Running the household means shopping, cleaning, and paying your bills on time. You're old enough for a credit card now. Get one, but use it only for things you can pay cash for, and pay off the balance every month. This takes discipline and judgement, but those are mental muscles you need to develop.

Behaviorally, treat people with respect and kindness (always looking after your own safety and well-being of course), even if you're tired or grumpy. Self-awareness, consideration, and drive are essential to developing good character.

Mastering all these things takes practice, but only by practice can you master them.

Good luck to you!

Girlfriend! No matter how hard you try you are still going to be a little immature at 18. You haven't even reached 21. Everyone develops and matures at different points. You have to live and learn. Another thing, wisdom comes with age. It seems like you may be trying to grow up before its your time. What made you feel like you weren't mature enough? Did someone say you were immature? No matter what be yourself. Now that you're 18 you want to go wild because you led a sheltered life. Be careful out there in this world. Everything that looks good isn't always as good as it seems.

all you really have to do is to feel like an adult is start acting like one and accept the responsibility for what you do. As far as becoming more mature and wise, that only happens with experience. Consider your actions before taking them and the consequences they have.

First of all, try to make your goal to be a better and mature person for yourself, not so you can get back with an EX. That is dumb. You do need to grow up some.
