I do, she was a virgin prior to the birth of Jesus during the birth and after the birth of her divine son

The evil one hates the virginity of Jesus and Mary, as much as he hates the cross and blood of Jesus, but God has come to us on this earth hallelujah!

Yes, Mary was a consecrated temple virgin who had taken a lifelong vow of chastity. Such virgins often married older men, usually widowers, as Mary did with Joseph. The virgin would receive protection and security, and the older man would receive companionship and domestic service. But the vow of chastity would remain in effect for life.

I do believe mary was a virgin prior to the birth of Jesus. However, Jesus had sisters and brothers; and I doubt that they were adopted..Thus, Joseph fathered children by Mary the Virgin. The sisters and brothers were not conceived by the Holy Ghost, only Jesus..

Well I believe that God is 'capable' of causing Mary's conception to be a Virgin birth, so in that sense I believe in Virgin Birth.

I respect and support others who believe in a literal interpretation of this myth, but I don't accept that view.

I prefer to interpret this whole legend as a spiritual idea. The Virgin Birth has a symbolic meaning which gives me strength and courage in my life. My Neo-pagan, Gnostic Christian sense of faith is not threatened if the Virgin Birth is not true.

To me it doesn't matter -- Jesus Christ is still a son of God, just like me and you!

And in a spiritual sense, Mary is our Eternal Mother. Grazie Madonna!

But there are historic problems caused by the Roman Church's elevation of Mary as the Virigin Queen of Heaven, since this tends to demonize any woman who is normal and human and has typical female lusts and desires.

Mary is just too pure to be real. So I prefer to think of Her as a Goddess, rather than a human woman.

As a result of over-exalting Mary as a so-called 'perfect woman', a lot of good Catholic boys grow up with a twisted view of the world, thinking that there are only two kinds of women, Virgins and Whores. This isn't true and it isn't healthy for men or women.

Scripture say she was a virgin BEFORE Jesus was born....but not after...
In fact, it says ...Christ nad brothers...

More importantly, it would have been impossible for Mary NOT to have consumated the marriage because in Judaism the 'marriage' had to be consumated to be a legal marriage.

Do you think God would give Mary the gift and honor of bearing the Son of God and then deny her the privilege of a honorable marriage....do you think God would allow her to have an 'illegal' husband....and deny the right to have sex in her mnarriage?
I don't think so....in fact, that belief impunes the intergrity of God the Father.

Ya had me up until yer last statement. catholic, right? Jesus WAS born of a virgin, but Mary had other children with her husband Joseph, After Jesus' birth. She was not IMMACULATELY CONCEIVED, nor did she remain a virgin her whole life.

Yes I believe it because I believe the WHOLE Bible, not just the parts I like. There are virgins that exist today well into their mid to late adulthood and there's nothing wrong with it. Test tube babies exist which is why I can't understand why people can't agree it's possible even today.

The idea that Mary was a virgin comes from a mistranslation of the original Jewish folklore that held that the messiah would be born to a young woman. The Hebrew word for "young woman" was mistranslated as "virgin."

Yes. Not all "christian" religions believe this though. It was fortold that she would be a virgin and that she would remain that way until he was born. Then she and Joseph knew each other and made children together.

Just like Romulus and Remus before him, and Anikan Skywalker after him. Oh, and don't forget ol' Mythras.

You do realize that in Greek, the word used to translate as Virgin had other meanings, right? Read a book. And nowhere in any Christian bible does it state that Mary was a virgin after his birth, again, read a book.
