Before you start thinking about dating again, you need to concentrate on being your old self back. I know this sounds dull, but working out really works for your well-being. If the funds are available, take a little vacation. Get yourself as nice outfit, hang out with your friends.
I just joined a new gym, with really cute guys, and trust me, it made me happy to know I would be working out, possibly making friends there with those cute guys. First and most importantly, work on your self, read a nice book to get inspired ( I can recommend a few) read something that makes you feel like a beautiful woman, and just learn to be comfortable in your own skin.
Best of luck.

If you aren't "yourself" yet, you probably should wait to start dating. Otherwise, you may end up in another relationship that is wrong for you.
What did the old sassy, confident you like to do? Focus on pampering yourself, realizing your dreams, and spending time with your friends for now. Being more focused on your own wants and needs for awhile will help you find yourself again. Don't think it's selfish; there is nothing wrong with taking time for yourself.
Good luck, and I hope this helps! :)

Go out have fun, get your nails done, try a new hairstyle, buy yourself a new outfit and hit the town with your friends. Pamper yourself a bit and get back your old confidence and the men will come after you. At least that is what worked for me!

Make sure to keep the focus on you and your strengths. Can your smile light up a room? Do you have a great set of legs to kick up (and show off of course) out on the dance floor? What are the positive qualities about you? The qualities you always used to like about yourself.
One thing's for sure, you probably shouldn't go back to that same guy! He sounds like he was a real hinderance to being who you are. There's plenty more out there and you're better than that crappy relationship and that crappy guy. That's something important to remember. ;) Write it on your mirror or somewhere you'll see it every day if you have to.
No one can make you feel like you but you. Once you realize you're better off without him you'll see the you you know start to reimmerge. It may take some time, but she waiting somewhere inside you just waiting to be let free someday. Let her breathe, let her party! ;)
