What is a good wine to go with salmon?
Italian?
Steak?

I have heard that certain wines go best with certain entrees to compliment the flavor of the dish.

Thanks!

Well, the previous people have given good responses. I'll add this...

Drink what you want and like!

If you don't like dark red wines and are having steak, then drink a white. By all means, experiment for yourself, but don't limit yourself to one type of wine for any particular dish.

Hello,
Here are some classic wine pairings from the the dishes you mentioned.

Salmon - Pinot Noir
Italian - a wine from the same region of Italy the dish is from (Northern Italy etc.)
Steak - Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot or Bordeaux style blends (a mixture of Cabernet, Sauvignon, Merlot, & Malbec, Petite Verdot and or Carmenere).

There are no hard and fast rules for wine pairings. You can get really complicated with this stuff, so if you just want a general idea, follow these guidelines:

Beef/Duck/Lamb: Medium to heavy red wine like Cabernet Sauvignon

Veal/Pork: Lighter red wine like Pinot Noir.

Fish/Chicken/Cheese: Dry white wine like Chardonnay.

Pasta dishes traditionally are served with red...

If you want to get more complicated than this and pick specific varietal wines to go with specific dishes, I recommend you do a search on "wine pairings" and you should find a wealth of helpful information.
