My daughter is also 4 1/2 years old and has eczema...well I was positive of that until I read this. I don't know much about psoriasis, but I would think you have to try your hardest not to let her scratch, and make sure her skin is well moisturized. I hope for the best for your daughter!!!!

I've had psoriasis since I was 7. If a dermatologist diagnosed it, he or she is most likely correct. It depends on what area on your child's body it is flairing up. When younger I always had patches on my knees and elbows, places that rubbed a lot. It seemed to clear up as I got older and have flair ups every now and then. I'll get random spots all over sometimes. I've always used different creams the dermatologist prescribed, which some work out well. You can experience flair ups with illnesses and infections. A lot of times it's minor and you may just have minor flair ups now and then and it's no big deal. But if she has constant patches, regular visits to the dermatologist to find the right treatment would probably be the best bet. Different people react differently to treatments. Overall it's not a major concern, but during nasty flair ups school children aren't always pleasant about it. Good luck.

My daughter has dealt with dry bleeding itchy skin since she was born. The only thing I found that didn't stink, or irritate, or cost a ton is SHEA BUTTER. Not the runny stuff either the thick butter-like stuff in a small tub... I got some at walmart and it's working better than anything I've used. Also change your laundry detergent to dye and scent free. Bathe your daughter every other day, I you can.

Psoriasis is multi factorial, flare ups are possible (as with any other disease). Try to use non steroid local therapy if not adviced by your dermatologist otherwise
