My left arm has been a bit numb for several weeks now and at times although not always I feel like my stride is a bit off. The stride thing could be my imagination playing tricks on me but the numbness is quite real. I just saw a news cast about Teri Garr and the fact that she has MS and she made the symptons sound somewhat the same. Although she described a pain not a numbness in her left arm.

When numbness or tingling persists or affects both sides of the body, it is a more serious symptom. Numbness or tingling may mean nerves have been injured, stretched, or pinched or that swelling is putting pressure on nerves. This can occur from:

Conditions such as arthritis, diabetes mellitus, multiple sclerosis, peripheral arterial disease, or peripheral neuropathy.
Sudden weakness or numbness with a loss of function in one area of the body, which can occur in conditions such as a transient ischemic attack (TIA), stroke, migraine headache, ruptured or herniated disc, or pinched nerve. These conditions need immediate medical evaluation.
A tumor or infection around the spine (rare).

I agree with everyone. You need to see a doctor immediately.

Numbness in your arm could also be a sign of having had a mild heart attack or in imminent danger of having a big one. You need to go see your doctor TODAY if possible. IF not today- you had better go TOMORROW. I had an Aunt that was 49 die of a heart attack and it can happen to anyone that quickly.
